Okay so it’s coming to the end of day 3 at Occupy Sheffield and we have been receiving a lot of interest, both from the media and the general public. Donations of things from our wishlist and more have been coming through thick and fast. We have also received lovely letters of support from all sorts of organisations and individuals, including a poem. To name a few, the Sheffield Green Party, PCS Union Sheffield, Rotherham Against The Cuts, Quaker Church, Street Pastors, Roney Robinson (BBC Radio Sheff), and the list goes on and on. Also Nick Clegg said he supported us in an interview on BBC Radio Sheffield the other morning.
Tomorrow we will be working our socks off to transform our marquee into a comfortable, warm, and lit space comprising our info point, library and reception.
We have had loads of great offers of speakers and meetings which would like to come to Occupy Sheffield. In order accommodate as many relevant activities/speakers as possible we have created a timetable on our wiki page for people/groups to schedule times for this. In addition to this we would really like more artists, musicians, poets etc to come along and do their thing!
We also really need to start ensuring all the areas within Occupy Sheffield will be staffed at all times. In order to stay on top of this we are asking people to sign up for shifts in the Kitchen, on the Info Point/Reception and as Camp Ambassadors/Night Tranquility Patrol. Please take a look at the shift table and sign up for whatever you can. If you are struggling to figure out the wiki then please email us on info@occupysheffield.org.uk.
There are general assemblies at 12 noon and 6:30pm where everybody has their say and consensus is reached. We will publish a timetable of events when it starts filling out. You can follow us on Twitter and Facebook and see also the wiki site.
